Resolved Issue : Port 80 used by Microsoft-HTTPAPI/2.0 WAMP Server error

I have been working on php for 2-3 months.. and installed WAMP server on my laptop. Just two days ago I reinstall SQL server 2008 as I had installed express edition before and now converted it to Enterprise edition. But suddenly Apache went down as port 80 was used by Microsoft HTTPAPI/2.0.

I then found SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) was still running after reinstalling SQL Server 2008 as it features a web service even though IIS is not installed.

I couldn't find much information about this from google but at last got way from stopping each service of SQL Server one by one.. and I found SSRS was responsible to stop wamp server.

I hope this article will help people who are facing such issue.

  2. For me, it was the World Wide Web Publishing Service that I had to stop. We installed the Microsoft SMTP service but not the web server component but it must've installed it by itself. Stopping and disabling that service did the trick.

  3. Stop the Microsoft Web Deploy Service

  4. it does not always work stopping with the reporting service
with me.. it all started with installing vs.net, sql server 2008 express and asp.net and perhaps iis.
so I manually had to uninstall all the above apps. and then turn off the related services and not just the microsoft reporting service. (some services are already mentioned in the posts of this thread)
it took me around 1 month to come out of this problem.
hope this post helps for some to overcome quickly.
    best wishes
